So...What if YOU are Wrong?

Image
atheist blog A surprising number of adults that I know frighten themselves so much with belief in supernatural things. Demons and scary afterlives and ghosty things and evil doers. The fear of these things affects their lives so strongly that they have nightmares and anxiety and distress. And worse, these fears limit their ability to truly love people and to foster peace and connection. Belief in these things also make some beloved people seriously concerned about my complete atheism, thereby bringing themselves even more concern and vexation. Atheist Convention: Gateway to Reason

Image
Are you a atheist parent looking for like-minded folk? Living in St. Louis or nearby in the Midwest? Allow me to offer you an excellent idea:   Gateway to Reason! Gateway to Reason 2017 is the premier atheist, secular conference and entertainment event for the St. Louis region This year the conference is moving to Historic Route 66. The the line up promises to be as historic with people like Mandisa Thomas, Aron Ra, Phil Ferguson, Seth Andrews, and ME, Homeschool Atheist Momma! I will be opening up the convention with a talk on atheist parenting on Friday, July 28th. Jerry and I (and the kids) have been to many atheist conventions in our time and I have never, ever seen someone to a talk specifically for atheist parents. When I started working on the planning committee for Gateway to Reason this year I told them that I would like to see a speaker on the subject and they asked me to do it.  Come and see me!

I was lying there, writing it in my head, and chuckling at the humor of it all. There was even a subplot to the post idea.  I was excited about the blog post idea because I thought that, surely my readers would be entertained by it, maybe some people would even leave a comment or two. I had been super busy yesterday so I then fell into a deep sleep. I remember dreaming about th e Serengeti Plain. Lots of large animals wandering about on this beautiful golden plain. A few spots of jungle foliage in the plain there for some reason... I couldn't seem to catch up with the large animals. No matter hard I looked, the behemoths were always out of range. But I was okay with this.  It seemed to be mostly rhinoceroses. I've been kind of enamored with rhinos lately. I woke up one time during the night to go to the bathroom a...
